Using a TV wall mount, your UHD TV can be easily attached to a wall and perfectly set in scene. It also saves a lot of space in the living room, if spacious TV furniture is not your cup of tea. With a wall bracket, your TV becomes an aesthetic part of the interior design.
What to consider before buying a wall mount?
Conditions of the wall
Before you start to install a wall bracket, you should first take a closer look at the condition of the wall. Not every wall is suitable for mounting a television. Large televisions often weigh more than 25 kg. For this reason, it is advisable to look at the building plans of the house and ask the DIY store for advice on the ideal dowels.
It is also important to determine if there are any power or water lines running behind the wall where you want to mount the TV. If you are unsure, you can check the locations with a locator or ask your landlord for advice.
Consult a specialist
If you are unsure whether you are up to the task, you should definitely consult a professional! An expert is able to check the load-bearing capacity of your wall and attach the bracket with the correct dowels.
Misassembly can have serious consequences, affecting not only the television set. A wall that has to be plastered or levelled is at least as annoying.
Check VESA standard
Furthermore, it is recommended to take a look at the connections of the wall bracket. On the back side of the TV you will find four threaded holes, which are arranged in a square. The mounting screws should be inserted here. There is a standard for the distance between the screws that has been defined by the VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association). The following applies: The heavier and larger the TV set, the greater the distance.
In order to determine the VESA standard, the distance between the threaded holes (vertical and horizontal) must be measured or looked up in the manual for the respective television set before installation. You should also write down the weight and diagonal of the television screen. This information will help you to find the correct wall bracket.
Which types of TV brackets are available?
Before you buy a wall mount, you should think about which one is right for you and your TV. Although there are only three types of wall mounts, there are subtle differences, especially in the mobility.
Fixed wall mount
This type of wall mount is suitable for TVs that simply need to be mounted on the wall without much movement or alignment. In addition, the TV lies relatively flat on the wall and takes up minimal space. So if you sit directly in front of the TV, this type of wall mount is quite sufficient.
The HAMA Ultraslim is a solid rigid wall mount that securely attaches the TV to the wall. The distance between the wall and the device here is only 2.5 cm, the wall mount is loadable up to 50 kg and offers space for TVs with a size up to 56 inches. The hole size is suitable for screws up to a thread size of M8 in other words 8 millimeters.
Wall mounts for Gallery design TV
TVs like Samsung’s The Frame or LG’s Gallery OLED GX or G1 can be mounted even flatter. These devices benefit from extremely flat wall mounts, as this allows them to blend in like a painting on the wall. The included special wall mounts create the desired picture frame effect that the TVs are known for.
Tilting wall mount
Another variant is the tiltable wall mount, where the TV is still close to the wall, but can also be tilted forward or backward. This is especially advantageous if the TV is to be mounted a little higher, but you still want to watch comfortably from the sofa. Additionally, you can already counteract reflections by tilting.
If a tilting wall mount is an option, you should take a look at the Mounting Dream MD2268-LK wall mount which can be purchased in two different sizes. Through this wall mount, the TV still lies very close to the wall, but it can be tilted up to 8 degrees. The MD2269-LK can hold TVs up to 70 inches and is loadable up to 60 kg.
Full Motion wall mount
The most flexible option is the swivel wall mount, as it offers the most freedom of movement for your TV. This is because it can be extended and rotated, swiveled and tilted in any direction you like. This way, you can not only effectively avoid reflections, but also achieve the highest comfort for you, as you can individually align the TV to you.
Mountain Dream’s MD2413-MX is one of the best swivel wall mounts at a relatively reasonable price. It offers maximum convenience, as it allows the TV to be extended and moved in any direction quite comfortably. It is also compatible with most TV models and inch sizes, so it should fit most TVs. It swivels up to 90°, tilts up to 15°, and the front plate also rotates 4°. This wall mount can also support up to 35 kg and TVs up to 55 inches can fit on it.
High quality wall mounts
If you want even more comfort for you and your TV, you should consider models from the Dutch Vogel’s brand. They have variants that can be operated electrically, for example, but this comes at a price. In addition, they also offer special wall mounts for OLEDs, where the VESA thread sits a bit lower.
The WALL 3345 B is a good entry-level model and can swifel up to 90° to the right or left, tilt 20° and extend up to 21 inches. It also has a load capacity of up to 30 kg and can securely hold sizes from 40 to 65 inches.
Assembling the wall mount
The following checklist is intended to make the installation of a TV wall bracket considerably easier. So if you’ve already decided on a wall mount, you can just tick off the list item by item!
- Pick the perfect place for the TV.
- Determine the ideal height for the TV.
- Mark the drill holes with the help of the VESA wall mount or alternatively with the often supplied drilling template. Do not forget the level!
- Now drill the holes in the wall. The holes must not be wider than the dowels. Ideally, use the screws and dowels supplied or ask for advice at the hardware store. Also, always drill at a 90° angle, as crooked holes will make the wall mount unstable.
- Now you can attach the wall mount to the wall and screw it tight.
- Last but not least, attach the other half of the bracket to the back of the TV – done!

Your TV hangs securely on the wall, but you are bothered by the annoying cables everywhere? Especially when mounted on a wall, the cable clutter is even more noticeable and a neat cable management can quickly become very nerve-racking.
Cable ducts can provide a remedy here. For this you only need to measure the circumference of the cable bundle and the required length for the cover. Always allow for a little extra space in case another device is added in the future that needs to be connected to the TV.
